Look Twice Before You Cross!!!

Good afternoon everyone! I hope your week went as great as mine did. Well I thought I would express my feelings about something that happened today that is just really bothering me. After I finished up eating lunch at the Sub, I was crossing the street to go to class in the MG building and was about a step away from getting hit by a truck. This really bothered me because if I didn’t do what we all learned back in kindergarten, looking both ways before crossing the street, I probably wouldn’t be writing this blog right now. This big white truck didn’t even put his breaks on or slow down. Even though there are crosswalk signs and speed signs posted, he decided to ignore them and even sped up to beat me before I crossed the street. Then to add some icing on the cake, when I lifted my arms up like “What the heck are you doing man?” he made some gestures at me while driving away. This happened to me last year when a girl my age didn’t stop for a crosswalk sign, and pretty much the same thing happened again. So what is kind of ironic about the whole situation is I’m on the Traffic and Parking Committee for Montana Tech through ASMT. I think that I will be talking to the President of ASMT and have him call a meeting of this committee so I can express my feelings and actually do something about it. On a lighter note, I will be going home again this weekend for my sister’s birthday and the Super Bowl, which if you haven’t been following my blog since the last Super Bowl, is one of my favorite days of the year.
I will be rooting for the Arizona Cardinals because for one thing they are from the NFC, and second of all I hate the Steelers due to most everyone is going for them. I’m thinking also that it’s a safe bet that I will be doing some ice fishing during my stay in Helena, probably with Vance and my father. Also something that just came to my attention this is my 100th posting, so HAPPY 100TH BLOG to everyone. Well one word of advice to everyone: look twice before you cross the street.

Snow and Fishing!

Well the Weather Channel had been calling for some snow, and that’s exactly what we got. I just arrived from Helena for the weekend and I had to shovel my sidewalk; we had around an inch of snow. Friday after class (and a quick game of Madden), I went home for the weekend to fish at the Silos ice fishing derby. After arriving in Helena, my mother had dinner waiting for me and we ate. Then I went over to my sister’s house to play Wii and ended up playing my sister’s boyfriend, Vance, in Madden. I beat him, of course, but he just bought the game and I’ve been playing a lot lately, so I’m well practiced up. Saturday was the big derby day, and to put it mildly, it was freezing. No, wait, beyond freezing. The wind was howling, and the temperature was in the negative teens. It was so cold outside that if you took your gloves off for more than thirty seconds your hands would hurt from the conditions. On the up side, we did very well catching around forty Perch but didn’t take anything home from derby other than our forty Perch. This week we start our mandatory lifting for football. Now last year this helped out a lot. I love working out, but there’s something about having the coaches pushing us that just seems to help out. Last year I got a lot stronger from this, and I plan on doing the same this time. Well on Tuesday I’m showing around a new addition to the Montana Tech football program. He signed with us last week and will be coming over from Helena to have his first visit of our school. Well I’ll check back in later this week!

Spring Semester!

Well hello to all my loyal fans. I have been slowly getting back into the swing of things. School went great for the first three days; I like my teachers and really like my schedule. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I have class from 8-10, then a three-hour break, and then class again from 1-3, so not a really rough schedule. I really like my three hour break during the middle of the day. I can actually eat lunch this semester and take a nap. Also it gives me a chance to get my lifting done, so I don’t have to do it during the early morning. On Tuesday and Thursday I only have one class from 12:30 till 1:45 so that really is no problem. I’m taking Statistics, Applications Programming, Microeconomics, Speech and Accounting II, so they shouldn’t give me any trouble. Well Abby made her way up here after work on Friday, and we had a blast this weekend. The night before she arrived I had gone to dinner with my aunt and uncle at Chef’s Garden (which is just scrumptious), and of course I ordered the chicken parmesan. Now when you go eat at Chef’s Garden you get full, so that’s one reason that I like to go there. One of my biggest pet peeves is when restaurants don’t give you enough to eat and you leave hungry.
I don’t mind paying more money for good food. Back to this weekend, Friday night Abby and I just went to bed because we were getting up early to go ice fishing with Sully, Asheypoo, Abby, Bo and his dad, Gallitan, Probert and his crew. We had quite the ice fishing tribe. I caught only two little trout, and Abby caught one, so it really wasn’t a great day. Sunday night we went out to my aunt’s for dinner and so we could watch the NFL games out there. She cooked burgers and hotdogs, and we ate them while watching the Divisional games on her new 42” flat screen. I really had a fun time with Abby this weekend, and I can’t wait to see her again.

Back In the Swing of Things

Well I’m back in Butte once again; I came back on Thursday so I could hangout with Shannon before he left for San Diego for his new job. So Florida finally won the National championship. I really don’t care for Oklahoma much, and I’m definitely a part of the Tim Tebow Fan Club. This superhuman is one of a kind. He not only brings a dominating force to the football field, he also joins his parents in missions in the Philippines. So if you haven’t been up to Discovery yet this year, I definitely recommend it. Shannon and I went up there on Friday, and it was a blast. They have a lot of good snow. Now this was only my second time skiing in two years so it took me a while to get back into the swing of things, but by the end I had it down, and I really had so much fun.
On our way down we stopped at 7 Gables; they make a great bacon cheeseburger. Then to give our muscles a little R&R, Shannon, his roommate and I went out to the Mud Pots, which are the natural hot springs right on the river. Saturday I drove down to Absarokee so Shannon could bring some things back and to drop off their trailer. Then when we got back, we watched the NFL games, which I never would have picked the winners, except for the Eagles’ game. Even though the Giants were number one in the NFC, the Eagles are on a hot streak, and I think that they can go to the Super Bowl. Yesterday was a really long day; I woke up at four in morning so I could drive to Helena to go ice fishing with my dad and Vance. We went out to the Silos, and since I marked our spot on my GPS where we caught all those perch last time, we went back to it and caught thirty, which wasn’t a bad day. Ms. Abigail is coming up here this weekend, and I’m excited because I haven’t seen her in a while and she hasn’t been up to my house since we played Carroll here. School starts on Wednesday, and I’m pretty excited for everything to get back into the swing of things. I’m taking seventeen credits, so I’ll have a nice load. Well I’m glad to be back, and I hope you have a nice week!!!!

Where Have the Years Gone?

Well, I hope everyone had a happy New Year and that this year will be better than the last. So I have been doing some ice fishing and have been trying to go skiing, but the weather never seems to work out the way we want it to. Trying to predict the weather here in Helena is like knowing you’re going to win the lottery (lol). My dad and I went fishing on Saturday out at the Silos, and it was a very nice day out, but we only dragged in nine perch. On Sunday we went and Vance, my sister’s boyfriend, came with us, and we all limited out by the end of the day. Vance caught the only walleye and my dad caught the only trout. So I have a question for everyone: where have all the years gone? I know I’m only twenty, but gosh darn it, I feel like my mom was waking me up for third grade only yesterday. Now being twenty doesn’t really feel any different than being nineteen, except that I will never ever be a teenager again in my life, which is kind of sad when you think about it. So you know how I was going bowling on my Birthday?
Well it never happened. The stupid bowling guy gave away the lanes that I reserved on MONDAY, five days in advance. Abby and I got there around 8:45 and we had to wait in line, which was fine. So we finally got up to the desk at 9:00, and the guy told me he gave my lanes away “a long time ago” because you have to be there by 8:50. It didn’t make any sense to me because we stood in line for fifteen minutes, and then he said he gave them away “a long time ago”, but what really burned me up was that they never told me that you have to be there by a certain time to get your lanes, so I will never go to Sleeping Giant Lanes ever again!!!

The Big 20!!!!

Well I hope you all had a vey merry Christmas and that you all got to spend time with your family since that’s really what Christmas is all about. I can remember back when I was little and Christmas Eve was the longest day it seemed like, I just wanted to open all my presents. It seemed like I would try to sleep-in but couldn’t then it would seem like I watched the clock tick every second until that night. But the older I get it, Christmas doesn’t seem like it used to be, and it really sucks. I used to get super excited to open presents and have the family come over, but the last couple of years I guess it just hasn’t been the same. I guess that’s what happens when you start to grow up and become an adult, but I hope I’m wrong. Well now Christmas Eve is when we open presents and we don’t start till around nine o’clock, I got a bunch of cowboys fan gear.
Like two blankets one from my mom and one from Ms. Abigail, also Cowboys popcorn bowls, a Cowboys jacket from Ms. Abigail but it’s a little too small so she’s going to get me bigger size. Well now on Christmas we watched the new Batman movie the Dark Night since none of my family had seen it and once again it is a wicked sweet movie.
Then I traveled down to East Helena to Ms. Abigail’s house so I could open her presents, we ate a late lunch there and then went up to my house for a prime rib dinner. Tomorrow is the big day the days of all days MY BIRTHDAY I’ll be twenty years old and loving life. We are going Vegas bowling and Ms. Abigail is taking me to lunch then my parents are taking me out to dinner. My family goes above and beyond on Birthdays, they are a very big thing to all of us, and so we celebrate them like it. Well ill let you all know how my Birthday goes! Again hope you all had a great Christmas!!!!!

Snow Snow Snow!!!!!

Well everyone all I can really say is snow, it has snowed here in Helena for the past couple of days and I love it. There’s just so many things that you can do outside like sledding, skiing, ice fishing but with the sow comes shoveling which we do every time it freaking snows, so people can get into their storage units. Well last Thursday I went down to Missoula to do some Christmas shopping with Ms. Abigail and after she “HELPED” me wrap the presents like I said she would. While down in Missoula I filled my truck up with gas, my aunt does most of her grocery shopping at Safeway and she has built up points to get money off your gas purchase, so I got 17.5 gallons of medium grade gas for five dollars even. Which is amazing, we figured it out and it cost somewhere around thirty cents a gallon, how sweet and since Butte doesn’t have a Safeway gas station she lets me use them. Well Christmas is getting down to the wire and I can officially say that I have done all my shopping and glad to be done. Well since I have been on break I really have done nothing to exciting yet, except hang with a couple old high school friends. I haven’t done any fishing or skiing yet but I have time still, it’s just been so darn cold outside. Well I’m cooking dinner tonight so I’ll check back in on Christmas.
