Vote For Me!!!!

Hey everybody! Hope that your short week went very well like mine did. It’s official everyone: I turned in my Vice President application for ASMT. Elections are this coming week, and I would really appreciate everyone’s vote. On our applications we had to choose three subjects that we would like to change or improve at Montana Tech. My first subject was to get more involved with the discussions about Montana Tech going to a smoke-free campus, which is a great idea to me. I really hate when I’m walking to class and someone lights a cigarette right in front of me, and then I have to breathe the smoke and stink as well. Also I hate when people stand right outside of the buildings and smoke and you are forced to walk through it. My second subject was to be a representative for the students while the HPER complex is under renovation. I think having someone voice the students’ opinions is crucial because we are doing these improvements for the students, so I can make sure that they are happy. Finally, my third subject is to improve the cross walks on our campus since right now you can hardly see the white lines. I have had a lot of students tell me that vehicles either don’t stop for them or speed up and try to beat them before they make it across. Well Friday night was fight night down at the Civic Center, and I knew a couple of the guys fighting. There were eleven fights, but what’s really sweet is that they usually only last one round, which means there’s a lot of action for those couple-minute rounds. My sister and her boyfriend Vance drove down Friday night and stayed here with me, and we went to the fights together. Then we went home to Helena because it was Ms. Abigail’s BIRTHDAY, and she finally turned twenty years old. We hung out at her house and opened presents and ate lunch and cake as well. Last night I took Ms. Abigail out on the town, and we went to Chili’s with Autumn and Vance. I couldn’t believe that we actually had GREAT service, maybe it was because we knew the waitress (but who really cares). So for Ms. Abigail’s BIRTHDAY I got her a new pair of sunglasses, a scarf and a ring of her birthstone (which is amethyst), and she loved them all, of course LOL. Well everyone, I have a meatloaf cooking in the oven, and I will chat with you all later.

Good Old Maivs Beacon!

Well hello to all my loyal blog readers! So my mom is taking a computer class at the career service institute in Helena, and during this class they learn all of Microsoft Office. They also learn how to type faster and be more computer literate. So when I was home on Sunday, I walked pass the fridge and hanging on it were two certificates for completing Mavis Beacon that my mom had received. This made me laugh and think about just how different the technology was for my parents growing up and for me growing up. I hadn’t heard of Mavis Beacon since I used it in the third grade, which was eleven years ago. Another thing that made me laugh while I at home was that my mom finally realized just how much homework you can have even if you have only one class that day. She found this out because the computer class that she is taking has some homework. Before, she just couldn’t believe that I was in the library for three hours even though it was for just one of my classes. Now tonight my mother and I exchanged many calls from our cell phones. She was calling me because she couldn’t get her memory stick to work, and I was calling her for instructions on how to make tacos for dinner. I was getting frustrated with her because she couldn’t explain what she was doing, it was hard to give directions without seeing her computer, and because this was stuff we learned in middle school. She was telling me that it was the same for her by her giving me directions for cooking tacos. Ms. Abigail came down to Butte on Saturday after she got off work, and we went to the Land of Magic for our Valentine’s dinner, which was so darn good we each couldn’t finish our dinners. Then yesterday we went to Helena and stayed the night and then came back this afternoon. She will be going home tomorrow early in the morning. Well everyone, I will check back in during the middle of the week to give a couple shout outs! Have a GREAT WEEK!!!!!!

Things Are Heating Up!

Well, just like Justine, my blogging has been slacking lately due to things really heating up around my life. Football has officially started. Mandatory lifting has really been making me a lot stronger, and winter conditioning started today at five-thirty in the morning. Well a lot has happened since my last blog. The Steelers won the Super Bowl, and I went to Missoula to go see Ms. Abigail and much, much more. Going to Missoula was really fun. Abby and I went to the Foresters’ Ball on Saturday night, and the rest of the weekend we caught up on much needed sleep. I met her roommate from California and met all of her friends down there, so it was a change instead of having her come up to Butte. Well school is going fairly well so far. I got a 90% on my Accounting II test, so you can only imagine my excitement. On this Friday, I have to give a speech for my class, and I’m going to do it on college students’ binge drinking, so I must get cracking on that. So this weekend is a three-day weekend, and I don’t really know what my plans are. I might go home to ice fish for a day, but I’m thinking about just staying around here in Butte. I have an ASMT meeting tomorrow morning at seven, and just to let you all know, I will be running for Vice President for the Associated Students of Montana Tech. I will let you know when the elections are, and I would really appreciate your vote. Well everyone, I’m going to hit the hay. I have another long day ahead of me tomorrow.
