Well the big ice fishing derby was a huge success for my dad and I. The morning started out normal, getting loose ends together and making lunches. Then after we left the house we had to stop and get gas then we finally made it out to the Silos and bought our derby tickets. We packed our four wheelers up and headed out on the ice, but we had a few minor difficulties before we made it to our fishing spot. First my dad tipped over his sled he was pulling then I got high centered in a snow drift, my dad had to winch me out with his four wheeler and finally my dad rolled his sled he was pulling but that kind of was my fault. When we started to fish we were next to a huge pressure ridge and we didn’t catch a thing; we were only there for twenty minutes. Then we moved and my dad told me we could move to a spot of my choosing so we went over this pressure ridge “carefully” and then ended up six miles from our starting point. We started to fish and we caught a couple and then WHAM we caught our limit in probably two hours. Then after that we just sized up our limit. I caught a huge perch, but I in the derby it didn’t even place, this perch weighed .83 of a pound it was the biggest one I have ever caught. The derby was so much fun, hanging out with my dad and just doing something I love to do, fish.
